Computing

“Whether you want to uncover the secrets of the universe, or you want to pursue a career in the 21st century, basic computer programming is an essential skill to learn.” (Stephen Hawking)

Our Vision for Computing

We aim to prepare our children for a rapidly changing world through the use of technology at Long Buckby Infant School. Our computing curriculum is designed to enable them to use computational thinking and creativity to further understand our world.

Implementation

Our curriculum design has links with mathematics, science and design and technology. At the core of our computing curriculum is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. We aim to ensure that pupils become digitally literate and are able to use, express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology.

Impact

It is essential that online safety and computing skills are taught so that our pupils have the confidence, knowledge and skills to deal with different situations. Through the repetition of key concepts, children build breadth of knowledge and understanding of computing and safety. They are successfully able to interact with the world around them, and draw upon the many benefits that computing can bring to our everyday lives.
