Our Vision for Art
At Long Buckby Infant School, we believe that high-quality Art lessons will inspire children to think innovatively and develop creative procedural understanding. Our Art curriculum provides children with opportunities to develop their skills using a range of media and materials. Children learn the skills of drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles, 3D work and digital art and are given the opportunity to explore and evaluate different creative ideas. Children will be introduced to a range of works and develop knowledge of the styles and vocabulary used by famous artists.
Implementation
Art is an important part of the school curriculum because it encourages the development of imagination and inspires creative thinking, allowing children to generate ideas on their own or by discussing with others and find their own solutions for a given task. The children develop knowledge, understanding and an enjoyment of Art through a structured focus on the progression of skills across the year groups. We aim to teach and develop specific skills in drawing, painting, printing, textiles, clay, ICT, collage and three-dimensional work.
Impact
Through the rich experiences provided at Long Buckby Infant School, our children are immersed in an environment that emphasises the importance of Art and creativity. We believe that the experiences and skills we provide our children with in Art, gives them the creative edge for the future.
